Laura Burton,  MSN, AGNP-C, FNP-C,  CFMP

Laura Burton is a Functional Medicine–certified Nurse Practitioner with a passion for individualized, patient-centered care. She believes that every person’s biochemistry is unique and that true healing occurs when the root cause of illness is identified and addressed—not just the symptoms. Laura views functional medicine as the future of healthcare because it focuses on restoring balance and optimizing the body’s natural ability to heal.

Laura spent 15 years working in the Intensive Care Unit, where she gained extensive experience managing complex medical conditions, performing medication reconciliations, and evaluating drug interactions. During this time, she recognized a critical gap in conventional medicine: symptoms are often treated as the problem rather than as signals of an underlying imbalance. This insight ultimately led her to pursue functional medicine, where the focus is on understanding why disease develops rather than simply suppressing it.

Through comprehensive, in-depth patient evaluations, Laura performs detailed root-cause analysis using advanced laboratory testing and functional diagnostics. These may include specialized testing such as hair tissue mineral analysis, along with traditional and functional labs, to assess metabolic, hormonal, nutritional, and toxic influences on health. This approach allows her to create highly personalized treatment plans tailored to each individual’s unique physiology.

Laura holds two Associate Degrees—one in Science and one in Nursing—from Lewis and Clark Community College (LCCC). She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Saint Louis University (SLU) and completed a dual Master of Science degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner and Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner. She is certified in Functional Medicine through Functional Medicine University and completed advanced clinical training under Dr. Johann Dinkelmann, where she gained hands-on expertise in clinical assessment, diagnostics, and therapeutic nutrition.

Laura’s mission is to empower patients with knowledge, guide them toward proactive health choices, and partner with them on a personalized path to long-term wellness, vitality, and optimal health.
